ROOMS Audio Line FS Pro VC Stands Review [2021]

Built with attention to every detail and quality in mind, ROOMS Audio Line FS Pro VC stands are one heck of a beauty!

And if the looks are not your cup of tea, FS Pro VC’s minimalist yet functional design is there to make sure your precious headphones are resting safely in an ideal position when they are not feeding decibels to your ears.

In recent years I borrowed quite a few headphone stands from my audiophile friends to showcase my high-end collection of headphones occasionally.

Headphone stands were never a priority for me. Most of the time, headsets were resting in their original boxes or, when in use, on the large SSL console in my downtown studio.

The new “work from home” paradigm, however, changed everything. Numerous lockdowns and mixing late nights with my family sleeping next door brought my reliance on headphones to an all-time high.

I often use three [or more] headphones to A/B my mixes, and each time I switch a headset, I struggle to find an empty spot around to hang them. And since I am a sucker for minimalism, my little improvised home studio desk had to comply with my obsessive convulsive nature too.

This is how my journey to find the best stand for my headsets began. My main selection criteria were:

  • Adjustable – for larger and smaller headsets.
  • Solid build – preferably made of steel.
  • Heavy and stable – so I won’t spend money on Super Glue every other week.
  • Silver or black – to match with my overall studio gear.

After a few days of heavy searching on Reddit and many dedicated Hi-Fi forums, I eventually landed on the ROOMS Audio Line website. And I got hooked!

Product Specifications

Unlike the FS Standard models, which come with an additional ten different wood variations, the FS Pro VC stands are built from steel. In terms of texture, the FC Pro VC stands are available in dark and silver matt only.

The FS Pro VC stand comprises two parts: an “L” body shape, namely the base frame of the stand, and the top curve, specifically the headband support. Both parts are firmly clamped together with a bold ending in a circular dial used to adjust the height of the stand. The overall dimensions of the stand are [W x D x H]: 115 x 185 x 260-300 mm.

The stand headband is sufficiently broad to prevent the headphones from accidentally slipping. The rubber anti-skid surface is integrated into the bracket and projects approximately 0.3 mm

Because of the headset’s weight, it perfectly conforms to the surface of the bracket and maintains optimal contact with the headset, thereby avoiding any headphone sliding.

Deformations of the headband due to long-term use are unlikely since the contact surface on the temple side is rather broad and mimics the circumference of a human head; therefore, no excessive pressure is applied to the headphone.

You may have noticed the VC in the product name and wonder what it means? VC stands for Variable Concept and refers to the center metal shaft that allows you to change the height at which the “resting” headphones may drop and rise.

The headband support can be raised from 26 cm to 30 cm, measured from the base. To accommodate all headphone shapes and sizes, FS Pro VC allows you to adjust the shaft gradually up to 4 cm to fit the height of suspension required by your headphone.

The headband holder can be adjusted not only for height but also can be rotated. This is an important feature implemented to easily adjust the headband support to your favorite angle relative to your sitting position without moving the whole stand. Yeah, this headphone stand is weighty.

The FS Pro VC base is entirely steel, and the coating on the steel is of the highest quality. The stand weighs 1.5Kg and has anti-slip and tip-over safety, making this headphone stand highly stable even on a desk with many movements.

That being said, it takes considerable effort to move the stand from its initial position accidentally.

FS Pro VC Stand: Built With Quality In Mind

The FS Pro VC stands are manufactured by the reputable German company ROOMS Audio Line known for its decades-long high-end recording and broadcasting Hi-Fi audio solutions and accessories.

Needless to say, Made in Germany is enough to know that ROOMS Audio Line is a company that builds audio stuff to last for decades. ROOMS stands for first-class artistry in connection with elegant design

The German company uses only carefully selected high-end quality materials on every product they manufacture.

When holding an FS Pro VC stand in your hand, you’ll definitely see and feel that.

Price and Retailers

I intentionally talk about the price towards the end of my review. And that’s because in this case, the product quality outperforms the price – by quite a bit in my opinion.

The FS Pro VC stand price is currently $137, and Thomann seems to be the only retailer at the moment shipping the ROOMS Audio Line products online.

I got my FS Pro A SL and FS Pro B BK shipped in about a week in Singapore. My overall experience with Thomann was extremely positive over the years, and their customer support, as well as packaging and delivery time, has always been top-notch.

That being said, this is not a cheap headphone stand, especially when there are plenty of other options out there for a fraction of the price.

Regardless, your high-end headphones worth thousands deserve some love and a safer place to rest on when they’re not covering your ears.

Are There Any Cons?

Alright, I’ve been only talking about the pros so far, and that’s because this product is really, really well made. But are there any downsides to consider?

Besides the price tag, which for some can be a barrier, and the product weight for those mixing on the road, there is really not much to complain about.

The great number of online reviews are almost unanimously on the positive side, and all I can see so far are happy buyers. Well, I know I’m one of them.

If you are not sure if the FS Pro VS stand is for you, I suggest you check your local audiophile shops and see if they have ROOMS Audio Line stands on display.

Wrapping Up

I’ve tried many headphone stands in the past and decided to stay away for two main reasons:

The stands placed too much pressure on the earpads, and they put too much strain on the headband resulting in deformation over time. Instead, I kept my headphones in their original box or other plastic enclosures to the point I almost forgot which models I own. A shame, I know.

However, having to compose and mix more and more with headphones means that I need my headsets to be available on my desk most of the time.

The ROOMS Audio Line FS Pro VS stands gives me everything I need: firm adjustable support and a beautiful, timeless design to please my eyes and inspire my creativity – even if it is just an accessory on my desk.
